What is Janmashtami?
Janmashtami is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. The festivities include dance-drama plays that depict the life of Lord Krishna, preparation of sweets and special dishes, and visiting Krishna or Vishnu Temples. During this festival, people form human pyramids to climb up and break a pot of milk hung on a pole symbolizing Krishna’s own attempt with his childhood friends at stealing curd that was hung beyond their reach by their mothers.
