A verified tick (green tick badge) signifies a WhatsApp Official Business account. To apply for this account type, ensure your WhatsApp account:
- represents a well-known business,
- has gone through business verification on Facebook, and
- has set up two-factor notification.
If you meet the above criteria, you can request for business verification by contacting WhatsApp.
Steps to Apply for the Verified Green Tick
- Check if the WhatsApp API number is listed on your Meta Business Manager:
- Log in to your Meta Business Manager here.
- Navigate to Business settings > WhatsApp manager or directly visit this link.
- Locate your Phone number associated with WhatsApp API.
- Click on "Settings" > "Profile".
- Scroll down and click on “Submit Request”.
Note: The "Submit Request" button will be greyed out if your Meta Business Manager is not verified.
If the number associated with WhatsApp API isn't visible on your Meta Business Manager:
Write an email to partner.support@gupshup.io from the email address registered with Gupshup with the following details:
- Title: Business Display Name (Request for an official business account).
- Description about your business and why you need an official account.
- WhatsApp Phone Number.
- Phone number and Display name.
- WhatsApp Account ID.
- WABA ID.
- App name.
- If the business is known by any other names, provide those.
- If the business name isn't in English, provide the name in the source language.
- Business Website.
- Facebook Page.
- Facebook Page Likes.
- Facebook Page Followers.
You also need links to 6-7 news articles/stories to showcase business notability. These should be unpaid, organic articles from recognized news, media, or magazine companies.
Here's a sample green tick applications template that you can follow for your application.
Where to find the App name and WABA ID?
Both the App name and WABA (WhatsApp Business Account) ID can be located within the Gupshup dashboard, typically under the settings or account information section.
Important Points to Note:
- Decision on Verification: The decision to award the green tick is entirely at Meta's discretion. If your application is rejected, you can reapply after a waiting period of 30 days.
- Business Name Consistency: Ensure that your business's legal name matches what's specified in your verified business manager. This name should also be displayed in the footer of your website and in the 'About us' section.
- WhatsApp API Number Activity: Before applying, ensure that your WhatsApp API number is active, has communicated with at least 50 unique phone numbers, and has received a minimum of 500 incoming conversations.
