The time required to port your number can vary based on specific circumstances, but generally, it might take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days.
Process to port your WhatsApp API number to DelightChat
Porting to DelightChat is a clear and straightforward process:
- Request Disablement of 2FA: You’ll first need to request your current WhatsApp API provider to disable 2FA on your WhatsApp API number by sending them the following support request:
"Hi [WhatsApp API provider’s] Support,
We want to use a different service as our WhatsApp API provider, please turn off 2FA on our WhatsApp API [number] and confirm."
- (Note: Disabling 2FA is only permission to port. Everything will continue to work as usual with your current WhatsApp API provider until the porting is completed.)
- Submit Request to DelightChat: Provide DelightChat with the necessary details of your current provider.
- Verification: DelightChat will verify your ownership of the number.
- Testing: DelightChat will perform tests to ensure that everything is functioning correctly.
Will I lose my green tick?
No you will not lose your green tick. Your green tick status on WhatsApp is associated with your phone number, not your provider. It should remain intact during the porting process.
Will my current messaging tier change?
No your messaging tier won't change. Your messaging limit/tier on WhatsApp is also associated with your phone number, not your provider. Therefore, it should remain unchanged during the porting process.
What will be the downtime?
There might be minimal downtime (up to 30 minutes) during the porting process.
Will the approved message templates and automations with my current API provider automatically work?
As for the approved message templates and automations, these will need to be reconfigured within DelightChat's system. Each provider may handle templates and automations differently, so planning ahead for some initial setup when making the switch would be wise.
